Payne School Model

Eye Opening Learning aha! Process designed the Payne School Model to embed the components of A Framework for Understanding Poverty into school systems to improve student achievement.

--YEAR 1--
TRAINING TIMELINE MATERIALS **
A Framework for Understanding Poverty * One day, beginning of school year $15 for book or $7 for workbook
Learning Structures * One day, beginning of school year $10 for Learning Structures/Understanding Learning kit
Meeting Standards and Raising Test Scores - When You Don't Have Much Time or Money * One day, beginning of school year $18 for manual
Technical Assistance/Elementary(grade-level meetings with consultant using "floating" substitute teachers; purpose is to embed strategies and processes taught in trainings) *
view commendation
A minimum of one time each grading period $10 for workbook
Technical Assistance/Secondary(department meetings with consultants using "floating" substitute teachers; purpose is to embed strategies and processes taught in trainings; at this level, consultants work with core content teachers and non-core content teachers; site must determine which departments will be worked with) *

A minimum of one time each grading period  
A Framework for Understanding Poverty: Train the Trainer (recommend that at least one staff member be trained so that he/she can train staff new to the campus in subsequent years) Four days at off-site location  
Meeting Standards and Raising Test Scores: Train the Trainer (recommend that at least one staff member be trained so that he/she can train staff new to the campus in subsequent years) 2.5 days at off-site location  
On-site planning/implementation meetings with aha! Process coordinator and building principal/leadership teams Provided as needed, recommended at least 2 times per year

Framework Refresher (Optional) - Review of key points and modules of A Framework for Understanding Poverty for staff that already had the training. New and different presentation. One day, beginning of school year Handouts.

For existing staff members to refresh the Framework training
